Bio

I currently write about K-12 education for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

I’ve had gigs (and moderately messy desks) at the Omaha World-Herald, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Lincoln Journal Star.

The Global Eyewitness program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln gave me international reporting experience. As a three-time participant, I followed stories through mountainside Sherpa villages in Nepal, nearly abandoned towns in Ecuador, and fishing huts stilted above the Caribbean Sea.

Whether it’s writing a feature on a duck race in rural Nebraska or sharing the story of a Syrian man who narrowly avoided a public beheading by ISIS militants, I am passionate about listening, observing and writing with empathy and an open mind.

When I’m not working, I enjoy working out at the gym, hiking, reading, thrifting and hanging out with my husband and our two dogs.
